France has contributed to the progressive revolution of science and Medical Science Researches for the welfare of the world. France stands 6th in the world economy and is a member of G8 Nations. The currency used is Euro.

Some special features about French Education:

French Educational system is popular around the world. Those who had their studies in France, the biggest West European country, consider it as a rare experience to have their education in France. It is said that the Education in France should be seen and experienced rather than acquiring information from others. Nearly 1 Lac 14 thousand foreign students come to France every year for their studies.

  • There is a general view that those doing higher studies in France should know French language. The students who have studied earlier have proved that it is not so. Since Higher Education is in English, good English is sufficient to study in France.

  • It is believed that as the value of Euro is high it is expensive to study in France. But French Government provides appreciable financial assistance for education and hence,it cannot be said that the cost of education is high.

French Educational System:

The French Educational System is a carefully planned and  a highly integrated scheme. It can be divided into 3 divisions.

  • Primary education called Enzynment Primary.

  • School education called Senzynment Secondary.

  • Higher education called Enzynment Superior.
The Government manages the primary education. There are many schools run by the French Republic. Apart from this, private schools and schools for Catholic studies are there in France.

The Secondary Education is for 7 years. The first 4 years are called College Education and the next three years of studies, lycées. Students who have completed this study are called baccalauréat. Those who have completed this level of study are considered equivalent to Britain’s A School, America’s ACT / SAT and Australia’s higher secondary education.
Higher Education in France:

The specialty about higher education in France is the wide range of specific subjects that are available. Moreover, since the student strength is quite less, with many branches of studies available and a number of faculties accessible for guidance, it becomes a total educational experience studying in France.

Higher education in France has two divisions. University Education and grandes écoles are considered to be prestigious studies here. École Polytechnique studies functioning under grandes écoles are the most popular studies in France. There is a stiff competition to get admission in this institution.

The École Polytechnique school education is the fourth best in the world. Here the teachers are not placed permanent. The teaching for a particular portion is complete here, since efficient teachers are appointed to teach specific subjects and on topics that they are well versed, only for a short period of time. The Universities do not carry out  research as it is done in India. There are specialized research centers like INSERM and C.N.R.S.

The fees for French education is considerably less. As the French Government provides assistance for higher education the annual fees for the studies depends on the choice of subjects  made. Even the Postgraduate courses could be completed within 1-2 lacs.

While going through the selection process the economically poor are given financial assistance and fee subsidy.

Though a minimal fee is collected in Government Engineering Colleges, the expenses to study in private colleges are very high.

C.B.G.E in France is a higher educational institution, which does not function within the framework of the University’s protocol. Trainings are conducted in the specific area of studies alone. This type of studies is respected highly in France,  as the instituion has created a number of great scientists and administrators. The duration for these courses, in general, is 2 years.
