Educational institutions closed as ‘Gaja’ hits land; exams postponed - 16-Nov-2018

Chennai: In view of Gaja cyclonic storm making landfall several educational institutions across Tamil Nadu state and Puducherry UT remained closed forcing institutions to postpone the scheduled exams to other convenient days.

Gaja cyclone made landfall in the wee hours, bringing widespread rain to various parts of the state pressing universities including Anna University to postpone the calendared exams to other dates.


Anna university, Periyar University, Annamalai university, Allagappa university, Thiruvalluvar university, Madurai Kamaraj University and Gandhigram university have rescheduled today’s exam to other dates.


Its likely that today’s exam would be held after the last exam.


To add, exams of several polytechnic colleges have also been postponed to other dates.


Apart from Chennai, all other government law colleges in Tamil Nadu have also cancelled exams scheduled for today and tomorrow.


Totally 20 districts had declared holiday for educational institutions.


Schools and colleges remained closed in Tanjaore, Nagapatinam, Cuddalore, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai, Thiruvarur, Sivagangai, Theni, Madurai, Trichy, Ariyalur, Tirupur, Dindigul, Villupurram, Salem, Karur, Perambalur and Tiruvanamallai.


Schools and Colleges were closed in Puducherry and Karaikal.


In Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Kovai and Erode schools were closed.


Dharmapuri, Dindukal, Namakkal experienced widespread rainfall.
