Chandigarh: Punjab is all set to have an international university to be set up near Ludhiana in collaboration with an American varsity. A decision to this effect was today taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in a meeting with Chief Executive officer Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh) USA, Gil Taran.
Taran evinced keen interest in setting up the university that would be a joint venture, an official spokesman said. Taran said the Carnegie Mellon University was rated among the top ten universities of USA and its robotics department was ranked as the best among other departments.
The cost of education would be a fraction of what a student has to pay in the US, he said. While giving in principle approval to the proposal, the Chief Minister assured Taran that the entire project would be cleared within two weeks, the spokesman added.
