The examinations have not been held on time and the university administration has asked students to leave their  hostels and go back home till further information, according to a source in the institution.

"In this condition about two thousand graduate, post-graduate and research students have to lose a year," a senior officer of university said.  Teachers and non-teaching staff of the university, whose salaries have not been paid for the last six months, have been on strike since December 24 on the issue.

The university needs about three crore rupees every month for its smooth running, but the monthly budget issued by the state government is only eighty eight lakh. "After five-six months when the university accounts show a balance of about Rs three crore, we get a month's salary," said Vir Singh, research head in the varsity.
