Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is otherwise known as screening test for Indian students willing to practice medicine in India after completing medical studies in foreign countries.

Indian students are very much crazy and desirous about studying medicine. Medical studies attract lot of Indian students as its the wish of many parents as well as it improves the social image of the entire family. Like Engineering studies there are not enough medical seats available in India for all the medical aspirants. As a result, the next option open is to take up the studies in a foreign country for those who couldn't make it into medical studies in India.

Further, several parents opine that the cost studying medicine in other countries is much lesser than pursuing in a private medical college in India. Hence, every year thousands of students get admission in foreign countries.

Its mandatory to clear FMGE for Indian students having completed medicine in foriegn countries, NRI Indian students having completed medical studies and to register their names in Medical Council of India. This screening test conducted by National Board of Examination, is generally considered tough to crack.

Examination method: This computer based examination will be conducted in several centers across the  country. This screening test is compulsory for all those having completed medical studies abroad after 15, March, 2002. Next, important thing is that the educational institution should have been approved by MCI. The list of institutions accepted by MCI is available on the council’s official website.
