Kapurthala: An institute opposing the setting up of a Centrally allocated polytechnic college in the Bhoalth area today threatened to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the state government's move to its establishment over land issues.
Harjit Singh, president of Sant Prem Singh Karamsar Khalsa College, Begowal which is in possession of eight acres of land where the foundation stone is to be laid for the new institute, today told reporters that the management would move the court on the issue.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is scheduled to lay the foundation stone on Wednesday. Singh said the land was allotted to the college in 1970 by a resolution of the gram panchayat, Begowal for building a stadium on it.
Begowal has already four graduation colleges in a radius of eight kms and one ITI at Moqsoorpur barely 4 kms away. Meanwhile, Bhoalth MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira (Cong) alleged that no site selection committee was formed in this case.
