New Delhi: The results of Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), 2019 were announced by the Indian Institute of Technology- Roorkee on Friday, with Kartikey Chandresh Gupta of Maharashtra emerging as the topper.
Out of the total number of 1,61,319 candidates who appeared in both paper one and two of the exam, 38,705 have cleared the exam.
Of the successful candidates, 5,356 are females.
Kartikey Chandresh Gupta of Ballarpur in Maharashtra came first in Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE (Advanced) 2019. He obtained 346, out of 372 marks. He also topped the Mumbai zone.
Allahabad's Himanshu Gaurav Singh secured the second rank with 340, out of 372 marks while Delhi's Archit Bubna came third by obtaining 335, out of 372 marks. Singh topped the Delhi zone.
The second and third toppers also happen to be good friends. They exchanged notes and guided each other to prepare for the examination.
Akash Gillela Reddy and Karthikeya Battepati secured fourth and fifth ranks at the all-India level. Reddy also topped the Hyderabad zone.
Shabnam Sahay is the topper among female candidates, with CRL 10. She obtained 308, out of 372 marks.
Surapaneni Sai Vigna of Madhapur and Tulip Pandey of Mumbai were the second and third toppers among girls, respectively.
Pradipta Parag Bora, with CRL 28, emerged as the topper in Guwahati zone while Dhruv Arora with CRL 24 topped in Kanpur zone. Aniket Gudipaty, with CRL 29, topped the Kharagpur zone.
Jayesh Singla topped the Roorkee zone.
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' congratulated JEE (Advanced), 2019 toppers and said those students who could not qualify should not lose heart.
Out of the total number of qualified candidates, 15,566 are from the general category, 3,636 from the Economically Weaker Section, 7,651 from Other Backward Classes, 8,758 from Scheduled Castes and 3,094 from Scheduled Tribes.
Technical glitches affected the website that was supposed to show the JEE(Advanced) 2019 results causing worry among candidates who logged in to see the results.
The allocation of seats will commence from June 16.
While JEE-Mains is conducted for admission to engineering colleges across the country, JEE-Advanced is for the ones seeking admission to IITs. It is mandatory to clear JEE-Mains to be eligible to appear for JEE-Advanced. The results of JEE-Mains were declared in April.
