At regular intervals every month, every center in the various city share information on higher education and research opportunities in Germany.

Exact dates of these sessions are available on http://ic.daad.de/chennai/news.htm

Some tips on Higher Studies in Germany:

1. DAAD provides basic information on all the German Universities and the courses offered by them for international students.

2. DAAD has no role in the application process. The students will apply on their own to German Universities: all relevant details including the application forms will be available at the respective University's web pages. It is not necessary for any agencies or consultants in order to apply to German Universities.

3. All details concerning the courses are available at the respective University's website that can be located using the link www.daad.de/international-programmes.  Details like course content, admission criteria, course commencement date, application deadlines, application forms  (online / downloadable), list of documents to be sent with application form, address to send the application, contact details of the course co-coordinator / International students office etc.

4. Students will shortlist the programmes offered in their subject / field of interest and based on their future plans. In this context, please remember that the medium of instruction for the courses has to be noted. It could be English, German, bilingual (partly English / partly German) as well as a few other languages like French, Spanish etc.

5. The programmes listed under the category "International Degree Programmes" are either fully or partly in English.

6. Check out when each of these courses begin. Most courses in Germany begin in winter semester (starting in October) and a few courses begin in summer semester (starting in April). The application deadlines could be anytime during the previous 8 or 9 months. It is ideal to start the application process 10 months in advance - begin preparations in December for the following winter intake and start in August for the following summer intake.

7. The German Universities being strongly autonomous in nature, there would be differences in the admission requirements between Universities. The eligibility criteria as well as the documents to be sent while applying will be given on these websites of the respective Universities.
