Teachers to get more orientation in value education- 4-Aug-2010
New Delhi: Teachers will now get more orientation in value education which they will pass on to their students, helping spread such teaching for peace and harmony in the society.
HRD Minister Kapil Sibal today asked the ministry officials to ensure that value education is integrated into the teachers' education curriculum in a big way.
At a meeting on value education, it was decided that NCERT will publish a Teachers' Manual, containing topics on it, a ministry official said.
Besides, the new teachers education curriculum, being prepared by the National Council for Teachers' Education, will have more content on value education.
Experts said that the National Curriculum Framework, which gives a broad framework on textbooks for children, has given emphasis on value education. Sibal emphasised on value education in the textbooks of children.
