Job-oriented education needed for job revolution: Chouhan- 5-Aug-2010

Bhopal: Stressing on the need for promoting job-oriented education and training to bring about employment revolution, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions to formulate vocational skill development policy.

"'Class X and XII pass students should be given job-oriented training to increase their chances of employability. This can be an effective way to fight unemployment'', he said.

Mr Chouhan was reviewing activities of Technical Education department at Mantralaya here today, an official release here said.

He issued directions to expedite the process of increasing seats in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) from 27,000 to one lakh besides increasing placement percentage of ITI pass students from 50 to 75 per cent.

A workshop should be organised in September to discuss training needs and facilities for job-oriented education and giving skills to young entrepreneurs. Inputs should be sought from experts and industrial houses' representatives.

The meeting was informed that Madhya Pradesh Council for Vocational Education and Training headed by the Chief Minster has been constituted to meet objectives of National Skill Development Mission.
