Chennai: The UGC has announced that recognition will be granted based on the new education policy (NEP).

Higher education institutions nationwide are required to obtain accreditations from bodies such as the National Assessment and Accreditation Committee (NAAC) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA, in accordance with their respective courses and curricula.

NAAC, which accredits entire institutions, NBA focuses on accrediting individual programs within those institutions.

Furthermore, these institutions must be listed in the national-level NIRF ranking. To achieve this, they must adhere to various regulations stipulated by the relevant educational authorities.

In light of this, the UGC has issued a circular to all universities and colleges, informing them of the revised guidelines for obtaining NAAC and NBA accreditations.

The updated criteria for recognition are now aligned with the principles outlined in the NEP.

Detailed information regarding these modifications has been made available on the website www.ugc.gov.in.
