Chennai: Guru Nanak Centre for Consultancy and Outreach Initiatives, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Police and Home Guards, organized a state-level intercollegiate contest to honor "Unsung Heroes" - the Home Guards.
Despite brief planning, 347 students from 47 colleges across Tamil Nadu participated enthusiastically in essay writing and oratorical contests.
The event, held at Guru Nanak College, featured dignitaries like K. Vanniya Perumal and Shankar Jiwal, emphasizing youth's pivotal role and urging volunteering as Home Guards. Prize money totaling Rs. 49,200, along with mementos, was awarded, highlighting the significance of recognizing such heroes.
The event concluded with gratitude expressed by Dr. T.K. Avvai Kothai, Principal i/c, Guru Nanak College, for all stakeholders.
This initiative not only celebrated Home Guards' valor but also ignited respect and curiosity among youth, showcasing the college's commitment to inspiring future generations.
