Physical therapy is generally known as Physiotherapy. The Physiotherapists job is  to cure the disease, relieve the pain of the patients and thus help them to come back to normalcy.   They save the patients from permanent disability due to injury or illness. They conduct tests on nerves, arteries and muscles to assess the deficiency.  They also solve problems related to disorders in birth due to illness and injury.   Physiotherapists provide treatment to problems like bone fracture, muscle cramps, nervous disorder, infectious diseases and paralytic attack.   They use heat, radiation, water and electricity to solve problems affecting joints and muscles. Giving  massage  and physical exercise to the patients help the treatment process.

They function as specialists in polio treatment, speech impediments due to neurological disorders and for patients suffering from cardiac and thoracic problems. They nurse all patients irrespective of age. They attend with care those patients with restricted movements happened due to epilepsy and burns.

There are branches of studies like Cardiopulmonary, Clinico-electro physiologic, Neurologic. Paediatric, Geriatric and Sports Physiotherapy. By choosing any one of these subjects for study, one can specialize in it.  In Physiotherapy subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics and Neurology are taught. Practical Training is also given in the hospital as a part of study.
