SNAP is the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test for admission to all the postgraduate courses like Management & Business, Communications, Geo-informatics, Health Sciences, IT & Computer Science and Agri Business. The Symbiosis institutes offering postgraduate programmes are as follows:
 
SIBM, SICSR, SCMHRD, SIMS, SCIT, SIIB, SIMC, SITM, SIOM and SIG.
 
Test Structure:
The duration of SNAP is 120 minutes. It is held at 27 cities across India. Candidates may choose the most convenient center. Admit cards are issued after the payment of fees. The center details are given on the card. A student cannot change a center once it has been selected. The test is objective in nature and consists of 165 questions. Each question has four responses.
 
Test Details:
Section 1: General English
This section comprises questions based on Verbal Ability, Verbal Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.
 
In the year 2006, the Verbal Ability section included questions based on Antonyms, Similar Analogies, Mark the Error (Tense-based), Fill in the Blanks, Spelling Error, Parts of Speech, Punctuation, Odd Man Out, Identifying Meaning of Given Quotations, Contextual Usage (appropriate), Meaning of Underlined Phrases, Scrambled Sentences, Jumbled Paragraphs, Word and Dictionary Definitions and Sentence Correction.
 
The Reading Comprehension questions were based on 4 passages. One of the passages was on Balance Sheets; the second passage was on Sports; the third passage was on History-(an excerpt from The Last Mogul by William Darlymple); the fourth passage was on Astronomy, an excerpt from an article by Micheal D. Lemonick). All passages were of half a page.
 
It was possible for a student to attempt about 27-30 questions in this section. A good score would be 22+.
 
Section 2: Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency
This section has 50 questions. 25 questions were on Quantitative Aptitude, 21 were on Data Interpretation and 4 on Data Sufficiency.
 
Last year there were 21 DI questions based on symbolic bar graphs, numerical tables +pie charts and numerical tables. The section had: 
  • 4 questions based on a pie chart and a table.
  • 14 questions based on two numerical tables.
  • 4 questions based on a symbolic bar graph.
  • 3 DS questions based on 2 statements.
  • Questions based on Numbers, Equations, Ratio, Work, HCF&LCM, Permutations,Probability, Geometry, SI&CI and Percentages were asked.
Some of the Quantitative questions did not demand conceptual clarity but were not straight forward either. A good score would be 24+.
 
Section 3: General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs and Business Scenario  
There were 40 questions in this section. They were based on general knowledge, history, mythology, geography, economics, sports, awards, business scenario, current affairs, politics, etc.
           
One could attempt 20+ questions. A good score would be 16+.
 
Section 4: Logical and Analytical Reasoning
This section had 35 questions. Each was allotted 2 marks. The section had:
  • 12 questions which convered coding, logical puzzles, numerical puzzles, clock and calendar
  • 2 questions based on computer algorithms.
  • 5 questions on arrangements.
  • 5 visual reasoning questions on series completion and odd one out.

The Critical Reasoning questions were tricky and one had to read all the options properly and then consider each option. All the 4 questions were time-consuming. 2 Inference-based questions and 3 syllogism questions were easy.

One could attempt about 15+ questions on Logical Reasoning and 5+ questions on Critical Reasoning. A good score would be 20+.

Desire Perfomance:
A good performance in this test would be an attempt of 100-110 questions. One could expect a cut-off of 94 for the top institutes.
