President asks students to imbibe spirit of innovation- 20-Sep-2011
Ajmer: Asking students to imbibe the spirit of innovation and team work, President Pratibha Patil said they should try to be "independent learners" and "problem solvers" to meet the challenges of the future world, including of developing technologies with a human face.
"You will need to absorb and quickly comprehend streams of new information, use that information to solve new and unique problems and then present those solutions in innovative and effective ways," Patil said while addressing students of the Mayo College Girls college after inaugurating silver jubilee celebrations of the institution here.
"Therefore, you will need to be independent learners and problem solvers," she said. Patil is on a three-day visit to Rajasthan where she will attend various events in Ajmer, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Jaipur. "We are moving into a world where the ability to produce a product- physical or intellectual- in the most efficient way and of high quality has become one of the cornerstones of the global economy," she said.
"This means thinking and operating in new ways, with greater use of technologies with a human face. "You will, therefore, be called upon to adapt to new challenges and innovate as you face a situation," she said. She urged the students and youngsters to imbibe the spirit of "team work" in order to bring success to the nation. Patil lauded the confidence, capabilities and talent of young girls which they displayed in all spheres of their life.
"Girls approach their studies with innate talent and sincerity and this is reflected in their many academic successes," she said amid a thunderous applause from the all-girl school. The Mayo College girls school was established in 1987, two years after the Mayo boys school was started here.
Rajasthan Governor Shivraj Patil and Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Sachin Pilot were also present on the occasion.
