Who should apply to the Masters in Management?

The Masters in Management is aimed at recent graduates who have less than one year of full-time postgraduate corporate work experience or less than two years experience in a non-traditional business role, and the motivation and desire to build a strong foundation for a career in business. Students will come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds and we will consider candidates who have broad work experience in non-traditional business roles such as engineering, science and arts.

I would like to do a PhD. Is this Masters right for me?

If you are seeking to pursue a PhD and wish to complete a Masters in Management as the next stage in your education, then this is probably not the right programme for you. As this course aims to give students highly relevant and practical skills for the workplace, it is not appropriate for students who wish to engage in further study immediately after graduation. If you have concerns about your suitability for the course then you should contact the Masters in Management Admissions Team and we can discuss your individual situation in more depth.

Can I pursue the MBA after completing the Masters in Management?

Students who graduate from the Masters in Management will be able to apply for the MBA so long as they meet the entry requirements. However, they will need to apply for the programme as non-alumni do, and will not be exempt from any coursework that they may have covered on this programme.

I already have an MBA or other postgraduate degree in business. Can I apply for this programme?

If you have already pursued an MBA or other postgraduate degree in business, such as a Masters in Management from another business school, we would note advise that you apply for this programme as it will be a repeat of what you have already studied.

Do I need work experience, or will you accept graduates straight from university?

As the programme is aimed at recent graduates, most students who enter the programme do so immediately following their undergraduate studies. While work experience is not a requirement, gaining experience in your industry of interest is a good way to gain not only valuable experience that will boost your CV, but also experience that will help you to better understand whether this is the appropriate career path for you. Most students will have completed at least one internship prior to joining the programme, and experience ranges from involvement with family businesses, entrepreneurial ventures, not-for-profits, and finance, consulting, and other corporate organisations.
