TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a standardized test to measure the English language to enroll in many universities across the globe, conducted by ETS, a non-profit organization.

Recognized by more than 9,000 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries, including Australia, Canada, the U.K. and the United States, TOEFL is the most widely respected English-language test in the world.

TOEFL test is offered both internet based (TOEFL iBT) and paper based (TOEFL PBT). Paper based test can be taken up in places where there is no access to internet. 

TOFEL iBT test ones reading, listening, speaking and writing skill.  Whereas, TOEFL PBT tests reading, listening, grammar and writing skills.  
Conducted little over 50 times a year at 4500 authorized test centers across the globe, the approximate cost of appearing for the test would be Rs.12, 000. 

Candidates can apply online for TOEFL iBT on the official website of ETS.   As registration for TOEFL can be done online, it can be done 24 hours a day and 7 days week.  

Reappearing for the test is possible as many times as you wish, but you cannot take it more than once in a 12-day period.

For the TOEFL iBT test, administered via the Internet, you will receive four scaled section scores and a total score:

Reading Section (Score of: 030)
Listening Section (Score of: 030)
Speaking Section (Score of: 030)
Writing Section (Score of: 030)

Total Score (0120)

There is no passing or failing in TOEFL; individual higher education institutions and agencies set their own score requirements. TOEFL scores are valid for two years after the test date and there is no limit to the number of times you can take the test.
