If you deeply analyze, why do Engineering students from Tamil Nadu struggle to get appropriate jobs, you will understand that todays Engineering students lack basic knowledge about Engineering and the relevant field.
Today, how many engineering students can repair the damaged washing machine, Air Conditioner or mobile phone in their house. Important reasons for this grave situation we have very high expectation only on Marks, Degrees and Jobs from the students. As result, even the class toppers do not have the clear understanding of fundamental science. This, they come to realize only at the time of personal interview.
In this situation, its no use over and over again blaming the university syllabus. In every college, just like department of Career Guidance, ECE and EEE function, likewise Skill Development department should definitely function. Only then students skill could be developed and fine tuned.
As long as the students have Interest, they will have the attitude and willingness to study anything new. Additionally, a Skill Development Centre is highly essential to kindle the interest of the students.
Keeping this on one side, students should study intensively, right from the semester onwards itself. Every company when offering a job doesnt look for brilliant students, but for students who are clear with their fundamentals.
Parents, placing a huge expectation on the children without understanding them will only lead to disaster. If only parents had met their childs
professor once in a while asking for feedbacks in the entire four year time, each one would become some achiever.
Students take it very reluctant that its the duty of every parent to make them study. Furthermore, teachers shouldnt be too binding to teach by the books instead teach beyond the books.
Students can become achievers only if the basic understanding improves, skills developed, parents show interest on childs education and teacher play an important role in kindling the student's interest.
