Today, most students lack interest towards carrying out research programmes. After completing an Under Graduation, all are keen to take up a job to earn money. But the biggest question today is that do they really possess the necessary skills required for the industry.

Like developed nations it very important move towards practical oriented learning to develop these skills in students. For which the Universities need to take the appropriate action.

Responsibilities of colleges: Colleges need to bring in Industrial experts from varied segments to provide speeches and special talks. Only then students can really understand the expectations of the industry and accordingly develop their skills.  To facilitate this learning and development process, all colleges must sign Memorandum of Understanding with industrial bodies.

Educational institutions responsibilities do not stop with just teaching lessons and developing skills for employment, but goes way beyond to inculcate discipline.  It is the responsibility of the educational institutions to groom students to provide answers to prevailing social problems and contribute towards holistic development of the society.

Root of the problem:  Today, most of the schools function with only notion of making their students to get good mark in public exam. Hence, these schools teach plus two lessons in class XI itself. Further, instead of facilitating them to understand and study, they are taught memorize the entire lessons.

As result, even school toppers happen to fail in semester exams in colleges.  Particularly, todays students are found to be weak in Mathematics subject. Colleges are finding hard to cope with these students. In this situation, the entire school syllabus and teaching methodologies have to change.

To develop skills:  Until these changes happen, just before joining colleges, students should take up bridge courses to develop Mathematics skills or other lacking skills.  For this reason we have introduced training programme for school students called Aspire from this year onwards.
