Following are the proposals put forth recently by the Central Government of India

  • The successful implementation of seat allotments for OBC in IIM and  IIT. Accordingly 20,500 seats have been created in the Central Universities.

  • To avail  Educational Loan with grants and without interest by non-creamy layer.  steps have been taken to put it into action.

  • Among the proposed 8 new IITS, 6 have begun functioning.  

  • Efforts have been taken to starte these new IITs in the states, short of the National Institute of Technology (NIT).

  • UGC has  identified 373 educationally backward districts and in these places new degree colleges will be started. The central Government has proposed to start 14 new central Universities of international standards in different states.

  • States that do not have Central universities will have 16 new universities and 7 new IIM institutions.

  • The Indian Institute of Science has been in progress in many places. This institute will start functioning at Bhopal and Trivandrum by the end of August.

  • 1,000 Polytechnic colleges will be started in different parts of India.  300 Government, 300 Government aided and 400 Private Polytechnics will come into operation soon.
     
    The Central Government believes that all these plans will be accomplished in next 5 years or 10 years.
