Cuttack: Board of Secondary Education (BSE) authorities in Odisha are yet to fix fresh dates for the matric examinations that were suspended after some question papers were purportedly leaked, causing anxiety among teachers and parents of nearly five lakh examinees.

"We are working to fix a fresh time-table of the examinations and after that it would be sent to the government for endorsement," BSE President Satyakam Mishra said.

The ongoing matriculation examination for regular stream students were suspended after it was found that some question papers of the remaining subjects were stolen from an examination centre in Puri.

After suspending the exams, the BSE authorities had informed that the exams would resume after 20 days.

However, now it appears unlikely that the exams would resume in the third week of April as announced, causing anxiety among teachers, parents and students.

Members of All India Democratic Students' Union, which had earlier demonstrated in front of the State Assembly, staged a protest meeting in front of the Board office here, demanding the exams be held at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the state crime branch police, entrusted to probe into the question paper theft, is yet to make any headway in its investigation.
