The former Chief Justice of India A.M.Agamathi expressed his views regarding the Education of Indian Muslims.

Though there are many concessions in the Indian Constitution to the Minority Muslims, many have utilized it quite nominally. The Indian Constitution cannot be blamed for the slackened education of the Muslims. The Indian Constitution has many aspects treating all alike. If the minorities Muslims slacken off, it is nothing but ignorance besides the dearth of fundamental education. Hence, the constitution alone cannot be blamed.

Education linked with Religion is necessary. Similarly, one should realize that education free of Religion is also equally important .Among all the socially committed work, imparting knowledge to the society is the most essential thing. Likewise, education provided to the girl child will mould families with educational knowledge. Adequate efforts to provide education to Muslim women are imperative to increase the educational knowledge of the Muslim community.

The Sacchar Committee Report .released in the year 2006 emphasized the basic facilities needed for the Muslim society. Moulana Jalaluddin Umar, the Muslims religious leader of Jamaat-E-Islamhind has also expressed the same point of view. The practice of approaching any other society to initiate changes should be eschewed. Instead the attempts to effect changes should be from within the society such as involving in activities like providing Education, helping the poor and needy and so on.

The Indian Government has progressively taken steps towards the betterment of the Muslim community in the socio-economic and the educational sectors. Among the Indian Muslims, 25% between the age group of 6-14 discontinue their studies, and out of 25 members only one completes the degree course. Only one out of 50 completes Post graduation.
