Technology a boon to students! - 5-Sep-2017

Today, technology has grown to such a great extent that within a touch of button everything is available on the internet.  Instead of the popular Tamil saying, Matha, Peitha, Guru,Theivam, now it could be said  Matha, Peitha, Google , Theivam.

In a situation where, anything and everything could be easily learned through internet, developing various employability skills is in the hands of the students.

In the same way, developing much needed skills, utilizing the opportunity coming his way, our college student, Cavin, finished is graduation in the year 2015 and presently works with a premier car manufacturer, BMW in the Research and Development department.

Another student Rahul, was called on to work with Apple after he came out with few mobile apps. Both are not ordinary incidents. Certainly not all the students can get such a breakthrough.  It may not be even called as success since it is not possible by everyone. Only persistent search will bring this sort of breakthrough.

According to the Anna University results, our college obtained 97.44% pass. That is 1103 students passed out of 1132 students. We have assigned one professor to foster each student group. This effort is to encourage those students affected psychologically and help them score good marks. This is an important reason for the increase in pass percentage every year in our college.

Earlier, we use to provide the complete fees for the subsequent year as scholarship to the top three rank holders, but now we give the fees as scholarship to all those score above a particular mark. Last year alone, 230 students got benefitted through the scheme.

Currently, it would cost several lakhs going to Germany to see car manufacturing at Ferrari. This may not be feasible for many students. But, a 45 minute detailed video on car manufacturing at Ferrari is available in youtube. I would say this is a boon to all automobile engineering students.

Similarly, construction videos available on the internet of famous buildings across the globe are a boon to architecture students. With all these things easily available today, prudent use of this is sure to bring success.
