For those children brought up in home atmosphere, it would take some time to get accustomed to school atmosphere. Similarly, those who are moving in to college environment from school ambience, it will take over a year get accustomed.
To be prcis, students studying engineering find it very difficult to cope up as in school lot of emphasis is on memorizing and most schools totally skip class XI portions. In this critical situation, concern institution should take appropriate steps to prepare the students for college studies.
For the first year students, it is very important to get the basics right in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry along with improving standards in English. Only then, it would be possible for the students to study engineering with understanding.
If the students have poor cutoff in school, they would be poor in memorizing, but not poor in learning skills. Whatever the subject may be; making the student understand the basics is very important after which the students themselves will learn beyond that point.
Just 20% of knowledge can be imparted to the students through teaching; no institution can provide 100% knowledge. But, the institution should provide an ambience where the students can develop rest of the 80% knowledge.
Devoid of fear and apprehension, students should be encouraged to talk with self confidence. Educational institution should enlighten students on ways to make the right use of internet, social media and websites. If this is done correctly, we can practically see the students use these tools efficiently.
Its easy to inculcate the habit of understanding and studying. If anything is told in the right way everything could be understood. It is not necessary to penalize or need to be strict. If students are taught self learning methods, unemployment can be totally wiped out.
In the same way, co curricular activities such as NSS and NCC should be a must for all the students. Students involved in these co curricular activities are highly robust enough to face any dire situations. We see this practically!
