Study cheerfully!- 5-Oct-2017

UGC had announced that all universities and autonomous colleges must introduce Choice based Credit System two years ago itself.

Accordingly, engineering students can opt to study any two subjects of their choice in every semester. The important fact here is that students need not select subjects of their area of specialization. A student of mechanical engineering can select subjects of computer science or an ECE student can choose subjects of Civil Engineering.

Likewise, it is possible to study 16 different subjects of their own choice within the four years. After completing engineering studies, this system will come handy to every student moving towards higher education, employment, competitive exams, entrance exams and becoming an entrepreneur.

I dont deny that there are many engineering graduates without jobs. But, it is important to make a study why they were not able to get a job.  Just obtaining a certificate after completing studies will be certainly difficult to get a job!

Private companies do not look into the reservation aspects when they select candidates for job. They give very high importance to skills alone. Students with a degree, communication skills and technical skills are sure to get jobs.

Apart from the subject knowledge, paper presentation in seminars and participating in workshops will enhance the confidence of the students. Along with this, it can provide an opening to get in touch with industry experts.

Recently, AICTE, Director had informed that all engineering students should undergo INPLANT training. But the fact here is that, we had started to implement this two years ago itself.

Finally, what I would like to tell to the students is to study cheerfully during college days; understand the entire subject and study. Develop domain skill sets in diverse fields. If all these fall in place, you will certainly move out of the college with a job in hand or with the confidence to be a successful entrepreneur.
