National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM) is a premier National level Institute set up by the Government of India in August, 1988 to offer specialized training, research, education and consultancy in the field of Agricultural Marketing.
NIAM is engaged in organizing training programmes in the field of agricultural marketing and allied areas for senior and middle level officers from various line departments of State Governments, Cooperatives, Marketing Boards and Agribusiness Entrepreneurs. The institute is also playing an active role in orienting agricultural extension personnel towards agricultural marketing.
NIAM has been actively involved in Research, Training and Consultancy in the field of Agricultural Marketing.
The Institute has organized a number of training programmes on functional areas of agricultural marketing. The focus areas of the Institute are emerging issues in agricultural marketing which is addressed through training, research, consultancy, policy advise, and education
Kisan Business School:
The Institute under the concept of Krishak Pathshala envisages working with farmers to strengthen their knowledge and skills to make framing a profitable venture. The classes will be conducted in their local environment, since the programme takes the school to the farmers.
National Agriculture Market:
The National Institute of Agricultural Marketing has been associated with the Scheme as Knowledge Partner to create awareness about the benefits of the Scheme amongst different stakeholders.
NIAM will organize awareness programmes and customized training programmes for wide range of stakeholders on various aspects of the Scheme like operations, benefits and requirements in collaboration with other National/State level Institutes.
Management Education has always been an important focus of the institute to meet new and emerging challenges in the field of agricultural marketing. It offers a comprehensive two year residential Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (Agribusiness Management). This longstanding program provides a unique management education and prepares managers for Agribusiness and food industry sectors.
Eligibility: The candidate must hold a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Sciences or in Agriculture-related disciplines, with at least 50% marks.
The candidate must hold at least a Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification in any other subject (like Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering, Pure Sciences, Commerce etc. this list is only illustrative) with at least 50% marks.
Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Agri-Business Management) PGDM (ABM) . The program is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education. It prepares business managers with critical competencies in agri-business sectors including food, retailing, exports, commodity trading, micro-finance, banking, Consulting, pharmaceutical, agri-inputs etc.
This is a two year residential program with an intake of sixty students.
