Admission towards medical studies such as MBBS, BDS, MDS, MS and MD in universities and private colleges throughout the country is being carried out through NEET that is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.     

However, examination towards Under Graduation studies is called as NEET-UG and examination towards Post Graduation studies is called NEET PG.

Recently, CBSE came out with the application notification for NEET-UG.

Exception:  All AIIMS institutions found across the nation and JIPMER in Puducherry are exempted from NEET.

Age limitation: Students between the age of 17 to 25 are eligible to appear for NEET- UG. However, SC/ST candidates do have 5 years of relaxation.

Eligibility: Must have obtained 50% in plus two with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects. This rule goes to English subject too. SC/ ST and other backward classes candidates need to get 40%. Differently- abled candidates should get 45%.

Aadhaar Essential: Aadhaar number is must for all the students applying for this exam. Its a must that the name in Aadhaar and plus two mark sheet be the same.

About the Examination: To be conducted for 3hours, this exam is objective in type that is targeted to test science knowledge. It comprises of 45 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology; totaling 180 questions. Question paper is in English and state languages.  

Marks:  This exam is conducted totally for 720 marks. Every correct answer carries four marks and every wrong answer will invite one mark deduction.
