The candidate should have secured at least 60 % marks in the qualifying examination Ship Building Bachelors degree in the subject/related field Japanese Language
- Enrolled for Masters in Japanese Language in a recognized university, or
- Completed Bachelors in Japanese Language from a recognized university
- Completed Bachelors in any subject from a recognized university and Level 2 of Japanese Language Proficiency Test and 3 years of Japanese Language study from a recognized University/ Institute in India

The candidate should
- have 2 years consecutive practical research/teaching experience after obtaining the prescribed qualification except for Japanese Language & Literature and Japanese Studies
- have Adequate knowledge of geography, culture and heritage of Japan
- stay consecutively for 2 years in India after return
