Many youngsters like you who have completed the Engineering Course and selected in campus interview of the IT companies may be awaiting jobs.

Due to the present severe economical conditions,  may be you are still awaiting orders. In spite of receiving the order, many may reject it because of the revision in remuneration already offered.  This is of course a very difficult period for getting new jobs. Confusion about the future continues.  What can you do in the present scenario?

For the past few months,  Nationalized Banks, Insurance companies, and other reputed organizations are repeatedly announcing their job requirements.  Those who are in dilemma like you,  now must snatch this opportunity and appear for different competitive examinations. This may facilitate you to secure a permanent job. Even  IT companies at present have started taking stringent measures such as  cutting  tea or coffee supply to the employees and also have minimised new assignments. Besides, one can see a significant cut in salary.

However, vast changes are noticeable in Public departments. Though they can never indulge in luxurious activities, they are changing slowly and steadily.  It will be no surprise that within a few years, an acute competition will prevail to join Public sector because of the sure salary, confirmed job assurance and feasible working hours.

In recent times, the engineering graduates are only responsible to create tough competition for the future administrative appointments of the Public departments. They compete with the BA, BSc, BCom and MBA graduates in the examinations for the posts of clerk and administrative officers and had been successful too.  The Public departments without any impasse offer them good scopes.  Moreover, they are well acquainted with the Aptitude segment, oft asked in such competitive examinations.

The Engineering graduates, apart from the Finance organizations of the Public sector, must utilize without any fail, the plethora of job opportunities announced presently by the Steel, Oil Corporation and other organizations.  That numerous Engineering graduates  have applied for the post of JDO in BSNL,  illustrates the severity  of the present state of affairs. Since more than 3500 vacancies are announced, this is considered as a rare opportunity.

A few months ago,  General Insurance, Oriental Insurance and National Insurance companies have provided the job opportunities for the post of  Administrative Officers.  Now the United India Insurance Company, another public sector company has announced Special Officer posts.

When top institutions offer such excellent opportunities in the beginning itself, you can reach the top most position in 10 years time. For the Engineering students, English and General Knowledge are the difficult sections in competitive examinations. This can be acquired through proper training only. Hence, do not ever lose such opportunities.

Get rid of the notion that only IT jobs will bring you good future.  Look for the opportunities around you and apply.  As the Public sector is getting modernized, your Engineering potentials have opportunities to become useful.

Above all these, there is an important fact. We see that for the past few years,  those who are employed in IT sector, get married when they are young. Young men want to get married before they are 25.  Girls desire to get married within a few months or a few years after they finish their studies. However, the number of women remains always less.  It can be seen that girls and their parents have an inclination to choose boys working in Public sectors. This will certainly help the future course of their lives.
