Increase in sexual abuse of girl students in the country - 19-Mar-2013
Bulandshahr (UP): A 13-year-old Manipuri girl studying in a government school in a village about 50 km from here was allegedly raped and dumped outside school premises. A probe is going on in the matter, Syana Rambharat Tiwari, the Sub Divisional Magistrate of the area under which the school falls, said. The victim studying in class IX was allegedly found absent from mess during dinner time at the boarding school yesterday, after which her classmates went looking for her on the premises. She was found lying unconscious outside the school premises where some civil extension work was going on. The victim, according to the students, alleged that she was raped by a private contractor who was supervising the construction work, after which they informed the police about the incident. Accusing the police of arriving late, the students indulged in stone pelting, in which a police vehicle was damaged. The principal of the school denied the incident, but said he had scolded the girl for coming late to the mess. In another incident recorded in the nation's capital, New Delhi, four teenagers were detained for allegedly sexually assaulting their schoolmate here, police said. The incident took place in Bawana area on March 13 and the teenagers, aged 16 to 17 years, were detained, they said. The victim, a Class XI student, and the accused study in the same school.
