The Energy and Resource Institute of the Central Government conducts researches in Indias environment, energy and power resources. On behalf of this, in the year 1998, a university was started with the name T.E.R.I. School of Advanced Studies. Later, it was recognized by the Central Government as a Deemed University.
Shri.Rajendra Pachory, the Environmental Expert is functioning as the Chancellor of this university. TERI is the first institution in India started for the studies in Natural Science, Environment and Energy. Till last year this University was functioning in the India Habitat Center. From 2008 onwards, it is functioning at the new premises named Vasanth Kunch at Delhi.

This University is located in the sprawling campus of two acres. It is constructed in such a way to save 60% electricity and 25% water. There are Hostel, Library, Research Laboratory and Computer Center. This has been built up as a model premises with the latest facilities.
TERI has undertaken joint researches with the internationally renowned Yel and Nottingham Universities
