In Robocon 2009 the national robotics contest IIT-Madras has won and will go on to represent India at Asia Pacific Robocon International competition that will take place in Japan on August 22.
The Chennai team beat Punes Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) team in the crucial third leg of the final at Shiv Chhatrapati Balewadi sports complex.
The public broadcaster Doordarshan and Maharashtra academy of engineering education and researchs Maharashtra Institute of Technology, organized the contest and laid a platform for engineering students to display their technical and innovative skills in robotics, which is fast gaining significance in industrial as well as dayto-day human applications
The act carried out by automatic and manually operated robots of the event was based on the Japanese tradition of ''Kago''. Nearly 52 engineering colleges participated across India.
''We feel genuinely satisfied for all the hard work that has gone into this success,''said an elated Ashwin Ram, who led the enthusiastic bunch of IITians from Chennai, and was a part of the core team that did all the tactical planning and execution during the games.
