ISER�s are centrally funded premier science institutions, established to integrated and promote interdisciplinary science education and research.

Over the years IISERs have been successfully attracting talented young minds. An overarching goal of the IISERs is to enable students to shape the nation by inventing and implementing sustainable solutions for societal problems through research in science.

IISERs are operational at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.

It offers BS, BS-MS Dual Degree Programs and Phd studies.

Four-year BS program in Engineering Sciences and Economics is available only at IISER Bhopal.

Research programmes: It offers MS Phd, integrated Phd and Postdoctoral studies.  

Candidates will be admitted to IISER only through following three channels.

(1) Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel
(2) Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology
(3) State and Central Boards Channel (SCB)

In view of the current uncertainties in the board examinations it has been decided that the eligibility criterion for admission to IISERs this year will stand at 60% (or equivalent) at the +2 level for General candidates and at 55% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy) candidates for all eligible boards. Students whose board examination results are not available at the time of the IAT will be allowed to appear in the examination.

Curriculum BS-MS dual degree programme: Students are trained in various disciplines of basic sciences as per the designed curriculum of respective IISERs during the formative year(s). Subsequently, they can take up specialized subject(s).

Curriculum for BS degree programmes: IISER Bhopal offers BS degree programmes in Economics and Engineering Sciences. Students are trained in various disciplines of basic sciences and introductory courses in Economics/Engineering during the first year of study. Subsequently, they take courses toward specialization in Economics/Engineering.

IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2021 will be conducted in the computer-based test mode.  

Candidates must have at least one of the two subjects Mathematics and Biology in 10+2 level.  IAT will be from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics with equal weightage.

The computer-based test will be available in both Hindi and English.

Mathematics is not mandatory for BS-MS degree programmes. However, for admission to BS degree programmes in Economics and Engineering sciences at IISER Bhopal, Mathematics as one of the subjects at +2 level is mandatory.

To join Integrated Phd and Phd studies, students should have obtained minimum 60% in Under Graduate programmes such as B.E, B.Tech. BSc or MBBS or other equivalent U/G studies.  However, students belonging to SC/ St need only 55%.
