Jodhpur: A one-day national workshop on "Science, Technology, Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights: Envisaging the Interfaces" will be organised here on January 10. The workshop, jointly organised by Institute Technology Management Unit, Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Jodhpur, and National Law University, aims to sensitise on issues related to promotion and protection of intellectual property and to understand every facet of interaction among interfaces. The national workshop is envisaged upon the chords of collaboration for agricultural intellectual property management, interfaces between science and law, farmers' rights, juridical and socio-cultural problems related to genetic resources, biodiversity, ethics and law, etc. About 100 participants from various national and international research institutes, universities, law schools and IITs will attend the workshop. "Such issues have global, regional and local importance on the line of United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) and will contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)," said organising secretary and senior scientist Dipankar Saha.
