Govt nursing students on sit-in over new appointment process- 11-Jan-2014

Coimbatore: About 600 students of Government Nursing College here observed a sit-in, protesting against the new appointment process of nurses through TNPSC exam, both for government and private nursing college students.

Appointments earlier were on the basis of counselling and interview for Government college students.

However, based on the Government suggestion the Madras High Court had directed that TNPSC exam be conducted for appointment, the students claimed.

Claiming that private students have to study only text books, whereas government nursing students have to work for nearly 12 hour daily, without holidays and the fear of affecting to various diseases, the students urged govenrment to revert the appointment process immediately.

The students said they would continue their agitation till they achieve their goal.
