In the last year, we witnessed a multitude of changes with everyone being affected by the new normal and the changes brought with it. Recovering from the after-effects of the pandemic, companies still have time to adapt to these changes and grow.

Since the late 90's Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have always been seen as the future of technology. However, it was often considered an exclusive career choice.


The developments in this field have been increasing by the year. The pandemic helped increase its pace, with the sudden shift to working from home and the need to maintain social distance. Resulting in, many companies relying on AI and automation to cope with the reduced workplace density and shorten project timelines. 


This digital transformation is one of the key incentives for the growth in the field, showing about 74% increased hiring for the roles like AI specialists, AI engineers, ML researchers and a few other roles in the past four years. 


Data Science  


Data Science is said to be one of the hottest tech careers of the century did but this wasnt the case in 2020 with the sudden decrease in hiring. However, the need for quality data literacy hadn't reduced, but companies no longer could afford such critical positions with the packages offered. 


This has changed now with us being out of the depths of the pandemic now, theres an increased hiring in this field, with the number of roles of chief data officers and other positions still rising. 


Companies look for data scientists who are well equipped in all three fields - Business, Quantitative and Technological skills. The difficulty of finding and retaining such talented candidates, have led them to hiring multiple candidates with different strengths looking for Data analysts, Data engineers, Business Intelligence analysts, marketing analysts, and more. 


Data science, a relatively young industry is yet to be picked up by many companies to gain deeper insights into their data. It can help them make better business decisions, improve customer experience, and even provide market insights, confirming the ever importance of this resource and the field.


Careers in Cybersecurity  


With the rapid adaptation of digitalization in all industries and the vast amount of data available online increasing every day, there is always a need for better cybersecurity experts and systems to help protect themselves from the rising number of cyber threats every year. 


This is a field with an ever-expanding scope and with more threats emerging every day, making it all the more essential to have more skilled and experienced experts to bridge this gap. 


Some of the very in-demand skills are ensuring Cloud security and DevOps 


security, seeing the higher adaptation of Cloud, detecting threats, and developing solutions. They should also be skilled with threat intelligence, data privacy, security, governance, and strategy. The lack of experienced individuals in this sector and the increased need for skilled workers makes them more valuable over the years. 


Careers in the Metaverse 


With Facebook changing its parent company's name to Meta and announcing its visions for the metaverse, a digital universe combining various technologies seems something straight out of sci-fi books.


Like at the dawn of the internet, a lot of the things we do today were quite far-fetched at the time.


With major companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, NVIDIA, and many more investing and constantly trying to make innovations in this field, it no longer seems such a stretch. It could very well be reality in a couple of years. 


Creation of a digital universe will bring a lot more opportunities with it like 


Smart contract lawyers For deals in the metaverse, and for digital asset transactions. 


Construct architects to develop objects, experiences, and places for the users to interact with. 


Digital Asset advisor With the rise in NFTs, they will be in demand for investment advice's and more. 


Fashion stylists - with brands like Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana already testing out digital fashion, the avatar-like lifestyle requires creatives and stylists. 


With these just being the tip of the iceberg, theres so much left to be explored in this field.


Careers in Blockchain Technology 


The increase in adoption of Blockchain technology by various companies like Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and more as a valuable solution has helped pique the interest in this field for many others. 


The rising digital transformation due to the pandemic, paired with the increased transparency and tighter security, led to more companies moving towards using this as a viable solution for their present complex systems. 


Said to be one of the most demanded skills in recent times due to the increasing number of jobs and roles available seeing how many more enterprises want to adopt these solutions. Due to the lack of skilled individuals in this field, companies offer much more attractive packages for those skilled in this domain.


Many don't look into Blockchain architecture and the technology used and miss out on the various opportunities it can offer. For example, to specialize in blockchain development, research analyst, legal consultant for reviewing smart contracts, and even roles such as Information and Security analyst and Data scientists are some of the opportunities offered.
