Chennai: Tamil Nadu Engineering admission single window counselling conducted by Anna University that was scheduled to begin on June, 27 has been asked to be postponed by the country’s Apex Court for want of pending applications of institutions by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

It directed the AICTE to clear the applications of 521 new colleges within seven days time.  In such a situation the Supreme Court felt that the present schedule for the year 2014-2015 would be not justifiable with more or less number of seats to become as options for students to select.

Nearly 3000 students were to appear for the counselling through academic quota on June 27 with about 1,73 lakh students having applied for engineering admission in the state.

M Rajaram, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University told that rescheduled dates of the counselling process will be announced later after a meeting.

Recently, AICTE had approved five new engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.
