Teens to be much careful of 'illusive statements or talks’- 28-Jun-2014

Illusion are look like facts but never can be a fact that deceives scores of youngsters and even elders too.

During school and college days many types of talks go about in the air among students.  Some are hard facts; many about fictitious stories build by students to gain recognition and build rapport with peers; few other stories are from various magazines thinking that everything appearing over magazines is facts and having known them gains good recognition among classmates; and many around illusive dialogues that come out in the movies considering it as hard facts.

Differentiating between fact and non-factual (Illusive statements) is very much difficult at that particular age. Not only to that age, even to many grownups. Unknowingly, these statements later on consolidate to form the perception of the child or the mindset of the person.

During late 1980s in most Tamil movies there was frequent conversation that hit the screen that later on affected lot of youth of that era. It was about young graduates who aspire to get a job, but is turned away regularly by companies’ employers.  The much highlighted conversation was "It is no use having a Under Graduation degree or any qualification higher; you certainly are not going to get a job”.

But, now reflecting such an 'illusive conversation' after three decades reveal how much a negative impact it had made on youngsters of those days who were extremely brilliant but got carried away by the caption saying, 'What is the use of Under Graduation degree".

Similarly, many hard core fans conscientiously follow traits, revealed through a particular style of talking or action of their hero portrait in a particular movie. Leaving behind their original traits and trying to enact hero’s traits in every aspect of life.

In an another form of an incident to cite, Benjamin Sinclair Johnson popularly called as Ben Johnson made huge impact on those days’ popular media through his World Record Breaking run in 100meters.  Most of the time at press meets he told that his power is due to 'good heavy weight training' – it is true. Many athletes who latched to those words trained much hard on weights than ever before without even knowing other aspects of this legendary sprinters training methodology- finally hampering performance rather than improving on it.

Next,  Gopinath, country delivery head of a leading software company in Chennai recently shared, "During my college in an intercollegiate sports event for Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, I heard from a boy who came to compete that the take-off board of the triple Jump pit was too far away to even reach to the pit. Fearing failure or poor performance or even better performers than me, I failed to even take part in the event.  Soon, after the event, I came to understand that I was capable of leaping at least one meter further than the person who won the first place. I felt so foolish to be carried away by an 'Illusive statement' to be deceived", he said.

Likewise, when probed much deeper many such incidents could be quoted on getting deceived by 'illusive statements'.

Right from advertisements in televisions and papers to movie dialogues, news on illegitimate papers, books, unauthenticated sites, trash books and many more to name.

In schools and colleges such types of statement – factual, non-factual, fictitious and illusive words prevail among students. But, it is very important for every student to carefully identity the truth; to move in accordance with the truth, rather than getting carried away by fictitious and ‘illusive statements’.

Fictitious, non-factual, deceptive and illusive statements lead one to different path rather than to his/ her destiny or reality.  It also creates an infatuated belief of a non-existing system.

Hence, whatever sort of words or statements one may come across, it is important to listen and then make a deeper analysis of the authenticity to further act in accordance or against or otherwise.

So be really careful.
