Bhopal: Soon, Indian education institutions will be rated with an official ranking for which a national framework is already underway, hinted Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani.
But, it is not sure whether the framework will cover both government and private educational institutions.
Addressing a gathering of students and teachers at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) at the launch of a teacher training hub and the laying of foundation stone for golden jubilee convention centre, the minister told, “Accreditation of colleges and institutes in the country should be strengthened. For this purpose, accreditation board will be formed covering all aspects on the campus."
She emphasized that skill development will be a prime priority in all technical institutes while admitting that quality has taken a back seat at the cost of growth.
Elucidating about Rashtriya Aavishkar Abhiyaan, Irani said the purpose of the scheme is to encourage research and innovation right from school to university levels. Apart from providing incentives to new inventions and innovation from district level, it will also sensitize institutions and students on the need publish and acquire patent for research papers, she told.
