The NTA (National Testing Agency) administers the Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam on behalf of the University Grants Commission.


Significance: Successfully clearing this examination not only qualifies candidates for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) but also makes them eligible for Assistant Professor positions in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Language and Format: The exam is conducted in both English and Hindi, featuring objective-type questions. It spans a duration of 180 minutes and is exclusively computer-based.


Age Limit: To qualify for JRF, candidates must be under 28 years of age. Certain categories, including SC, ST, third gender, differently abled, and women, enjoy a 5-year relaxation. OBC candidates receive a 3-year relaxation. However, there is no upper age limit for individuals pursuing the Assistant Professor qualification exclusively.
