Take-up Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main this coming Jan 2024 that is held towards admission to B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch., B.Design, B.Plan courses and certain dual degree programmes.  


JEE is a crucial national-level examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It serves as the gateway for admission to various undergraduate engineering courses across the country.


Examination Overview:


JEE consists of two phases - JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Successful completion of JEE Main is a prerequisite for appearing in JEE Advanced.


Courses Covered:


The examination facilitates admission to B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch., B.Design, B.Plan courses. Additionally, it is the qualifying exam for dual degree programs such as M.Tech., MBA, and integrated master's degree programs.


Educational Institutions:


Scores from JEE Main are utilized for admissions to NITs, IIITs, central government-aided institutions, and various government and private educational institutions. Notably, NIT and IIIT admissions are based on JEE Main scores, while IIT admissions rely on JEE Advanced scores.


Qualifications and Selection Process:


Applicants should have Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects in their 12th-grade curriculum. A minimum of 75% marks in Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subjects is required, or 65% for SC/ST category. JEE Main is conducted twice a year, and the highest score obtained by the candidate is considered. The qualifying score enables students to advance to the JEE Advanced stage, and the opportunity to attempt the exam is valid for three years after completing 12th grade.


Exam Structure:


JEE Main comprises two papers:


B.E./B.Tech. (Paper 1): Questions from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with a total of 90 questions for 300 marks.


B.Arch./B.Plan. (Paper 2): 82 questions for B.Arch. (Paper 2A) and 105 questions for B.Plan. (Paper 2B), with a maximum of 400 marks.
