Founded in 1986 under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) is an educational institution of national importance.
Significance:
With the primary objective to cultivate talent in footwear design, manufacturing, fashion design, retail, and leather goods, FDDI provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Additionally, the institute offers short-term, industry-specific training and programs.

Admission Process:
Prospective students are required to take the 'All India Selection Test' (AIST 2024) for admission to FDDI courses. The examination is conducted separately for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, each carrying a weightage of 200 marks.
