Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore (IISc-Bangalore) has extended the deadline for admissions to its undergraduate (UG) Biology programme due to the All India pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), which will be re-conducted on July 25.
Earlier, the AIPMT was conducted in May but nullified after a paper-leak scandal forced the apex court to order a retest. Candidates who attend the AIPMT retest will be allowed to apply for admissions in the IISc. Although the CBSE is conducting a retest, only those who have registered earlier are eligible to attend the retest.
About 6 lakh candidates are expected to attend the AIPMT. A special provision has been made for the candidates giving the retest, while the admission procedure for the others would be conducted as per the original schedule. It has been reported that the IISc has reserved seats for the AIPMT candidates. Further, the IISc will organise special sessions for the students who join late.
