Chennai: Playschools in Tamil Nadu may have to do away with admission tests for toddlers.
Following a public referendum on the first draft code of regulations published on June 12 for playschools in the state, the Education Department, on Monday, published a revised draft, which among other things proposes to ban admission test for children.
Sources said the revised code of regulations for playschools also details evacuation plans during an emergency. D Sabitha, principal secretary to the Education Department, was quoted as saying, “We have made some modifications based on the suggestions received. A copy of it has been submitted to the Madras High Court and the final version will be published soon.”
In the revised draft, it has been stated, a seven-point detailed evacuation plan for schools has been placed, while it was just a statement in the previous draft.
