Kalyani (WB): Four days after the Vice Chancellor of Kalyani University Ratanlal Hangloo sent in his resignation to West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi, the varsity authorities decided to revoke the fee hike decision as demanded by the students.

Chairman of the four-member fee review committee Alok Ghosh told media that the university will roll back the amount and bring it to the 2013-14 level for post-graduate students.

The committee had passed on the recommendation to the VC's office and announced the roll back following it's nod.

The exact scaled-down amount will be notified for students shortly.

The university campus had been on the boil since February this year with students and non-teaching staff gheraoing the faculty and VC on several occasions on the fee issue as well as against some other measures taken by Hangloo.

On October 1, Hangloo had faxed his resignation to the Governor after he and other senior university authorities and teachers were kept under gherao by post-graduate students for hours but his resignation was "not accepted" by the Governor and state Education minister Partha Chatterjee, who asked him to "go on with his work".
