New Delhi: Faculty Association of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (FAAIIMS) today condemned the decision of the AIIMS administration to remove a senior faculty member for allegedly misbehaving and manhandling a patient and demanded a unbiased inquiry into the case.
In the general body meeting, the association also demanded that termination and punishment of faculty member should be withdrawn immediately till he is proven guilty.
They have urged the chairperson of the Governing body to look into the entire issue and let the terminated faculty to present his point of view.
The AIIMS on January 6 sacked the assistant professor of medicine department for allegedly misbehaving and manhandling a patient in September last year. A committee was set up after the incident under the head of the department S K Sharma, which submitted its report and found the doctor "guilty".
A senior doctor associated with FAAIIMS has said, "Only seven faculties have been terminated till now in the history of AIIMS, but that was also because they went to foreign countries and did not respond to the communication by the institution over their returning.
