The proposal to obtain a minimum of 80 % in the plus two boards to join IITs is creating a great problem among students and parents.

Educationists say that this decision would greatly affect and reduce the students from rural background joining IIT.

Consequently, now the problem is that, how IIT would choose the right students when the evaluation patterns vary drastically in various states.

For example, a student from Delhi secondary board can easily get 80%. But, only less than 5% of students get 80% marks studying in West Bengal boards.

Although the union ministry revealed that this proposal of getting high marks was brought out to control the unnecessary development of IIT training centers, the educationists remark that this would lead to unhealthy practices in the educational institutions.

To join IIMs, when 50% itself is made sufficient to write the GATE exams, but now 80% is made mandatory to join IITs, this proposal has brought out unnecessary problems to students.
