Prez presents award to Japanese professor for promoting Hindi- 31-May-2017

New Delhi: Scholars from Japan and the US are among 26 individuals given awards by President Pranab Mukherjee for promoting Hindi language.
 
The Hindi Sevi Samman awards for 2015 were given to the eminent writers at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in which Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar was also present among other dignitaries.
 
These awards were instituted by the Central Hindi Institute, Agra in 1989. The scholars received awards in 12 categories for their contribution in the field of Hindi language and literature.
    
Fujii Takeshi (Japan) and Gabriela Nik Ilieva (US) were presented the George Grearson Award for promoting Hindi language, a release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
    
Also, Pushpita Avasthi (the Netherlands) and Padmesh Gupta (London) were honoured under Padma Bhushan Moturi Satyanarayan award category.
    
The award carries Rs five lakh each, a citation and a shawl.
