The Indian Civil Service ranks are considered to be highly accountable positions in the nation. Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and Indian Revenue Services (IRS), which comprises 2 divisions, the Indian Customs and Central Excise Services  (ICCES) and Indian Tax Services (ITS) are some of the 22 Central Administrative Positions.

These are superior positions in the Central and State Government jobs.  Hence, it is not surprising that IAS and IPS officers are considered eminent in the society. For example, it would be a dream for many students to become a Collector by passing IAS examinations.  Similarly, if a boy or a girl becomes an IAS or IPS by passing the ICS exams, the status of the family levitates all of a sudden to the astonishment of others.

Indian Administrative jobs get immediate recognition in the society. In a very short span of time the IAS and IPS officers acquire the respect obtained by others after a number of years of service in other jobs. This is the reason that many parents are firm that  their son or daughter should become IAS or IPS in the future.

IAS and IPS jobs are packed with trials challenging our ability. Just think about the Police Commissioner of Chennai. In a city where 10 Lakh citizens reside, apart from protecting their lives and belonging, they have to maintain law and order, prevent crimes, provide protection to VVIPs and also regulate the traffic.  Everyday they have to meet hundreds of people, collect petitions and hear their complaints.

The job of the General Manager of Southern Railwayalso belongs to the Civil Administrative position.  Everyday he has to face numerous challenges like operating hundreds of trains and provide adequate facilities needed for an average of 10 Lakh passengers. Indian Police Service jobs are also crammed with challenges. At times they have to encounter precarious situations as well.

ICS jobs do not have limitations.  The District Collectors should carefully implement the Government’s schemes for the upliftment of the poor, downtrodden people. The Government Secretary for Health Department is placed in a position  to manage the health needs of the entire community of the state, with the help of a few thousands of Doctors and Medical Assistants. Because of this, the Doctors and the health workers have to work under the administration of that particular IAS officer.

Indian Administrative Jobs help to attain very good position at an early age. I was just 29 when I took up the charge as the Head of the Police Department in Dindigul District.  I was the Head for almost 2000 police officials and I was the youngest of all.  But, I was at the highest position. This is the speciality about the administrative jobs.

IAS and IPS officials are generally appointed by the State Governors.  Even after retirement they get estimable jobs with good salary in many multinational companies.

ICS officials can continue studies like Ph.d, MBA.  The Government on its own expense sends them abroad to continue their studies. These officials even get opportunity to head the Public Sector Companies. This prospect is especially an added advantage for the IAS officers.

Indian Administrative jobs are designed on the basis of the political structure of the Indian Government. There is no prospect to attain such a high position at a very young age in any other country of the world . They get an opportunity to meet and lead people, and partake in Government administration. It imparts not only worthy respect from the public but also a fine job satisfaction. Do you also desire to become an IAS or IPS?
