Burdwan: Funds for education were not used properly for the uplift of students from the backward sections, West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan said today.
"More talent would have emerged from the backward sections had the funds been spent for them," he said at Burdwan University convocation here.
The former national security advisor ruled out talks with 'forces' trying to create problems in the state.
The governor who is also the chancellor of the university awarded honourary D Sc to former VC Dilip Basu and D Litt to Mohit Bhattacharya, Amit Kumar Mullick and folk singer Amar Pal and Phd degrees to 70 students.
